Well
first of all, who are we? 'We' are Bob and Mal Roe. We
live in Sheffield
in the north of England, which as
well as being a pleasant enough city, and in Yorkshire, has the added
advantage of being less than half an hours drive from the
Peak District
National Park. We retired early a few years ago
(2001), having decided that life was too short to spend it all working, and
realised our ambition of buying a campervan. Our holidays have always
been spent walking and usually in the mountains. Before we
retired we spent several short holidays in the USA and Canada touring
and backpacking in the National Parks and have also completed the Mont Blanc
Trail and the Corsican High route and trekked around the Pyrenees. Since
retirement we spend a lot of our time our
Timberland Freedom campervan travelling in both
the UK and Europe and more recently in Morocco, and have also spent a couple
of months in both New Zealand and Australia (in rented vans).
Our interests range from outdoor pursuits (walking, scrambling, biking,
skiing) to more sedentary pastimes (wildflowers, birds, fungi, photography)
and also genealogy (see tree).
Emma, our eldest daughter, is a keen
rider and lives in Harpenden where she has
her own horse, Elsa.
She often competes in local competitions and enjoys jumping as well as eventing and dressage.
Daughter
Becky recently won a trip on the last Concorde flight. Pictured here
during the flight, her description of the experience was 'amazing' and she
was surprised at how
small the plane actually was.
This website is intended to share some of
our experiences in the hope that someone out there may find them
interesting!.
Oh, and in case you're wondering, I'm batty
about owls!
